Help answer this question below.

Runner at 3rd, 2 outs, and count 3-2. Runner steals home and crosses home plate before the pitch reaches home plate. Pitch is swinging strike 3, does the run count?

    Yes, the run would count because he is not on a force play at home, so the batter does not have to reach first base safely. But, it would be very unlikely there would be a SWINGING strike 3 while the runner is stealing home.

    • So, same scenario, but its a called 3rd strike. Same answer? But I think mrumpiresir got the right answer. In my comment to him I posited the same scenario but pitch resulted in a long fly, runner scored B4 fly was caught, run does not score. I *think* that if the batter makes the 3rd out, in any way, no runs can be scored on that pitch. I am just an amatuer scorer, so don't quote me to the league commishners.
