There are many things that we can put together to conclude reasonably that Jesus(God) was against abortion. First, many scriptural refer to being a person pre-birth. Take James 1:5 for example, "Before I formed you in the belly, I knew you. Before you came forth out of the womb, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations." Or David speaking, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be" (Psalm 139:13-16, NIV)
Now as for abortion, I really have no clue whether they were doing this at the time or not, but I do know for a fact they were sacrificing children to falso gods...which was clearly wrong and detested by God.

Now, if you study you will also see that God states that He created you with a purpose and He didn't make mistakes with you. Why would you want to kill His creation before He is done creating them? And it would also answer questions for people dealing with gender issues, God didn't mess up when He made you the woman or man you are.

I don't know about you, but if I was chisling a sculpure I had invisioned my whole life for even a day and somebody took it apart piece by piece and threw it out...I'd be pretty mad. And just incase you're wondering, that is just what they do with abortions...they count the arms, legs, head and body to make sure they got it all when they're done.

    • I'm not Christian, and I've also had an abortion. I also want to know how this is reconciled with the Law of Moses, wherein causing a woman to miscarry was considered little more than a property crime against the woman's husband (to whom the offender payed retribution).

    • I'm going to send you to this page. http://abort73.com/HTML/I-J-2-exodus.html I believe either this passage has been misinterpreted from the orginal hebrew or the law is considering that it was an accident, not intentionally harming the woman or child. Today it would probably merit jail time for unintentional manslaughter, but they didn't have that option at the time. It was death, physical punishment or fine.

    • Thanks for getting back to me, and I understand what you are saying. But please note that the punishment differs greatly from the punishment for murder. My point is that it was not the same as murder.

    • Well maybe God creates certain embryos for the purpose of being artifically aborted. It's certainly not that far a stretch from his creating them in order to be stillborn, retarded, premature, or to die of SIDS, etc...

    • God didn't create them to be stillborn. We live in an imperfect world and bad things happen. We were made to live forever, but sin caused death to enter the world. As for children being born with down syndrome, some of the sweetest and happiest people have downs. We have no right to judge them as being worth less then any other child. Harvesting children for the good of the adults is just disgusting to me. And saying we have the right to decide before a child is born whether they are worthy of life sounds an awful lot like playing God. Given today's standards most people would have aborted Beethoven. Can you imagine? All children and people are special to God, and should be special to us as well.

    • Great answer's Sheen way to know scripture and stand for Christ.Jesus said that it would be better for you to put a millstone around your neck and be cast into the ocean than to harm a little one.

    • sheenashark, I understand what you are saying and I like how you present your information, but how can you say that your God didn't create them to be stillborn. You don't know that. As simple as it is to say that all bad things are our faults but all good things are from our deities, that's kind of a shaky argument.
