The tall red head was a genius and a visionary. He invented the pedometer, was a surveyor, agronomist, invented the dumb waiter, had a makeshift, non electric air conditioning system in a small room between the top and bottom floors of his house, had a toilet seat that sat over a river and God knows what else. My favorite tidbit about him was that he bought the state of Louisiana for the ridiculous price of $800,000.00! He was forced to purchase it from france because there would have been a chance that we would go to war against each other. Jefferson sent envoys to France to purchase it and borrowed the money from Great Britain at 6% interest!

    Wow history's cool.

    • Oh. I forgot that he funded and sent Lewis and Clarke to the Pacific North West! Does anyone know anything about that trip? Could you imagine how beautiful and perilous that trip must have been? How long do you think that it took since it was done via "hitting those hushpuppies", river boating, and horse and buggy?
