I LOVE to dance, but my husband is very self-conscious on the dance floor and just gets so nervous. He actually admitted that he enjoys letting loose, but just can't do it in certain situations, so every now and then we just go for an overnight somewhere that's far enough away that he feels a little more anonymous(I guess?) and just dance the night away... He just goes crazy out there!! It's a lot of fun to see him let go like that!
Also, we did take swing lessons once, where given the instruction, he was great, in fact, I was the one who got nervous! LOL! Still, we had a wonderful time. We never practice, so we've forgotten most of what we learned, but every now and then we cut a rug in the living room and the kids cheer us on :)
My suggestion is to join a group, or take some dance lessons. You'll have fun and most likely meet some new people! Also, some clubs (like salsa dance clubs) have instructional hours early in the evenings. This is a really fun way to learn and enjoy a long night out!!
Good luck to you! and have fun!!

You're reading I am hopeless at dancing. I get up on the dance floor and then don't know what to do and end up literally just standing there doing nothing and then going back to sit down. I can't even just move my arms [if you know what i mean]. Can anyone help at all?
