First try to relax. Practice dancing at home. Turn on some music you like, stand in front of the mirror and try to move with the music.
Watch people dance on TV and mimic their movements. Once you can mimic try adding variations of your own.
Eventually a style will develop. It's not hard. You may just be nervous.

You're reading I am hopeless at dancing. I get up on the dance floor and then don't know what to do and end up literally just standing there doing nothing and then going back to sit down. I can't even just move my arms [if you know what i mean]. Can anyone help at all?
