Help answer this question below.

I've got loads of automatic update leftovers for windows XP clogging my dard drive. Can I safely remove them? They are named $NtUninstallKB867282$ and similar.

    You will not harm anything on your computer by removing them. They are not in use by the computer at the current time - the files contain the information needed to uninstall patches and updates for Windows. The danger is that you might need to uninstall an update or patch that is not functioning correctly, but will not be able to if that file is no longer there.

    • Has anybody ever uninstalled an update? And could you even uninstall an old one without possibly breaking a later one that depends on it? I'd say safe to remove all except the most recent.
