Question

Help answer this question below.

Our computer is running very slow, we have tryed virus/spyware scans, defrag, scan disc, deleted all the extra crap and we called our ISP and they made some changes, nothing is helping, also there is malware we cannot delete or clean? HELP!

    Do you use dial-up or DSL? We had the same problem over a year ago, and did most of the stuff you mentioned. We had dial-up and our computer was as slow as hell, plus the internet kept shutting off. Well, not to be funny or sarcastic, but we got a new computer which immediately solved the problem. A few months later we got DSL and everything is much, much faster, plus we hardly ever get cut off anymore. Actually, our son is a computer wiz, he did all the stuff you mentioned, and he finally came up with the idea that it was just the computer, and told us to get another which we did. Sometimes things just have to be replaced. Of course, our computer was 6 years old and had gotten a LOT of use, so I guess it was just its "time to go."

    • Yes we have dail up, but our computer is just over 1 year old. All we use it for is our home just emails and surfing - but I guess that probably what caused the problem in the first place.

    • If by slow you're only referring to the internet performance (browsing, email) - then yes, it's probably just the dialup thing. But if non-internet tasks are slow too, it has nothing to do with your connection.
