How can I prevent my baby from getting ear infections?

    You cannot totally prevent ear infections but you can help lessen the frequency by doing the following.

    1.
    After bathing the baby be sure to use a q-tip to swab the ear of any water; but NEVER swab into the ear canal. As you can puncture the ear drum.

    2.
    Do not let the baby lay flat while drinking from a bottle. The fluid tends to build up behind the ear promoting infections.

    3.
    On cold / windy days put a small piece of cotton moistened with oil in the babys ear to prevent any airborne spores or bacteria to enter the ear canal.

    • Very good info, Also once a baby falls asleep make sure you take their pacifiers out, i dont exacly remember why :)

    • #1is risky-just use a wash cloth rinse#3-is ridiculous,you should not leave a sml wet piece of cotton in an ear.Read my Ans.

    • #3 is incorrect, that is not a common cause of ear infections
