Breastfeeding absolutely DOES help prevent ear infections. I breastfed Joe on demand for over 3 years & he has NEVER (knock on wood!) had an ear infection. He is almost six.
I think it has to do with how hard a baby or toddler has to suck to get milk from the breast, it is a whole different set of muscles than used in bottle feeding.
When a baby dies for whatever reason, is it possible that God will let that baby live again as someone else since it didnt live long enough?
