What are some noises that make you cringe?

    Any noise that makes you scared to look (i.e. those usually followed by a blood-curdling scream of pain and agony).

    If anyone has heard a human bone break you know what I mean. If you haven't, try snapping a carrot or using a nut cracker on a lobster claw.

    I suppose the sound resulting from someone's head hitting pavement would qualify (remember that scene from "Back to the Future II" when Marty sacrifices himself to push his father, young George McFly, out of oncoming traffic); although, I've never experienced this without a visual reference.
