If I am going on a long road trip, is it better to rent a car or drive my own?

    Depends on the situation. If I had a newer vehicle which would be reliable, and comfortable for the long haul I would drive my own. However, if the trip is long. You will pay your car rental plus extra mileage fees, as well as gas. Unless of course you have a corporate rental account you can rent under. My ex father in law had one. He could rent for a flat fee unlimited miles. Catch was he had to rent for at least 5 days. But even so I think his rates were 35-40 a day for a mid to large sedan. And unlimited miles. We would get 1 for 7 days and put 3500-4000 miles on it in that time.
