    Mike has a Day job.

HAve you checked you EGR lately?
I fought with a no / low power gremlin with a clogged egr in my '95 GM.
Do you have any codes showing?
your truck should be an OBD1 that year (you can jump the terminals with a paper clip and you'll get your service engine light will flash.
the first thing you should see will be a code 12
one flash followed by two flashes (repeats three times)
code 12 tells you the system is functional.
Then any other active codes will flash 3 times each.
Watch your over heat light; it is a secondary set of codes. once you get any codes from the computer, I'll pass on some ideas to find out what these mean; on line research.
