    They are used for making shower curtains. "for that personal touch" ;-))

    That punishment went out of favor a century ago, and only the most conservative nations still have it in their books.

    Much as Britain still have a law forbidding a husband to beat his wife with a stick thicker than ½ of an inch.

    • Although I agree the western world has had its fair share of brutal laws, they have now been abolished (due to loss of religious power). The fact that some brutal laws are still condoned and practised (i.e stoning/whipping/female genital mutilation/loss of limbs) by some parts of counties via religious law is shocking in this day and age :/

      Its not an attack on Islam. I can understand how some people would be very protective of their culture on a forum that is predominantly American, but I think any civilised person would not be able justify abuse like this and would want them abolished entirely.
