An equinox is a day that has equal daytime and night-time (12 hours each, naturally.) This happens twice each year when the sun crosses the equator, during the vernal equinox on March 21 and the autumnal equinox on September 23.

    • Interestingly, the date on which equal day and night occur is a little off the equinox because of the width of the sun
