Do Meijer or Target carry out all of the bad business practices that Wal-Mart does? If so, why do we only hear about what Wal-Mart does?

Walmart is bigger and has a documentary on all of its "sins" streaming online, DVDs, and I think Netflix. Good propaganda. Mostly anti-union stuff and socialists ticked off that the Waltons and Walmart are not unionized and support Charter Schools vs. Public Educational monopolies.

They are no different statistically on the "made in China" issue, and especially vs. Target, identical on labor issues, both are non-unionized. Target would love to be the next Walmart, but are not quite as successful at it. Also, many people watch the anti-Walmart documentary and pick up on the anti-Walmart sentiment in our culture and feel a moral excuse for their detest of shopping along-side Walmart's poorer clientele.

To be honest, Walmart has done much to improve the lifestyles of the lower economic levels in our society, with out the negative side-effect of entitlement mentality, that the welfare subsidies unfortunately create.

Also, the made in China thing... people are people. A large part of me does not mind giving some poor dude in China a job. Maybe they will have some food on the table that otherwise would not have been there. I do not like that communist China benefits as well, but the citizens are humans. I do not mind if they get a hand up by an improved job economy. Unfortunately it is often at the expense of our own, but to hire our own in the current legal climate, hiring with our regulations, tax rates and minimum wage laws.. the poor in our nation would not be able to afford the products and would suffer a severe blow in increased cost of living.

    • Wal-Mart is improving the economic lifestyles of people by what exactly? Paying the lowest prices for the products they sell, and then the lowest wages to employees who they refuse to hire full time so they do not have to provide them benefits. I suppose them encouraging people to depend on foodstamps rather than paying fair wages is a good idea too. I know you don't mind giving the poor dude in China a job. You would import the poor dude in China to serve you at your dinner table for nothing if you could. :( I love "entitlement mentality" because that's what modern society has been founded upon. People are entitled to be paid for their work rather than slaves, children are entitled to education rather than becoming child laborers, minorities are entitled to be people rather than property, etc. Thank God for entitlement mentalities.
