You're reading Is a description of Jesus' physical appearance found somewhere in the Bible?
Comments
There is actually nowhere in the Bible that ever mentions that Jesus or Joseph was a carpenter. I was suprised when I heard this, so when I looked through I found nothing. It is just assumed because of Josephs status in society that this could be an occupation that he would fit into. Also, becuase of Jesus' schooling to become a rabbi, he wouldnt have taken on his fathers trade.
Read Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell. It goes into a description of the process of becoming a rabbi and how Jesus' approach to it was so different from anyone before or during his time.

Maggie Jane..Here is what I found about Joseph and Jesus being carpenters.
(Luke 3:23) Furthermore, Jesus himself, when he commenced [his work], was about thirty years old, being the son, as the opinion was, of Joseph, [son] of Heli,
(Matthew 13:55) Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?
(Mark 6:3) This IS THE CARPENTER the son of Mary and the brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon, is it not? And his sisters are here with us, are they not?”.
During his years in Nazareth, Jesus learned the carpentry trade, likely from his adoptive father, Joseph. Jesus so mastered the craft that he himself was called “the carpenter.” (Mark 6:3)
