    inconsequential

I loved First Edition AD&D, and as a purist, I stick with it. Changes that occurred in subsequent revisions were mostly in response to the charges by religious conservatives that the game promoted devil worship, witchcraft, and the like. The fact that many of the elements taken out of 1st Edition AD&D were added back into 3rd Edition is proof enough that it wasn't broken - why fix it.

I have almost all of the original manuals, and multiple copies of certain ones. I don't play anymore, but I do get a nostalgic warmth in flipping through those old books. They were so good in my development of imagination... AD&D kept me involved and playing with friends, and kept us out of real trouble.
