What would it take to convert my 2000 Ford F150xlt toa 4wheel drive?

    You would mostly need a different transmission, a transfer case & a differential on the steer axle. However, the 4x4 model probably has a sturdier frame & so it wouldn't be worth the money for a conversion when you can buy this exact truck for 8,000 or less. I know because I did.

    • A+, except the frame is exactly the same. Suspension and brakes, may be different, however. Also, you will need a new driveshaft. The driveshaft will be completely different depending on the components, spline count etc. Like you said, it's far easier, and probably cheaper, to just buy a 4 wheel drive.
