    inconsequential

From the saddle of an 18 speed mountain bike -- thumbing your nose at the gas stations and refineries as you cruise past... or riding in quiet dignity like a modern day two-wheeled Gandhi.

    • That's a good start...but recognize that mountain bike was made in a factory (probably in Taiwan or China) from raw materials that were shipped to it from elsewhere. Once it was arc-welded together (using electricity likely generated from fossil fuels), it had to be shipped to you (in an oil-powered ship). There's just no getting around our dependence on the technology network (and the petroleum that fuels it) in the short term.

    • Couldn't I make one out of bamboo and coconuts like the Professor used to? :)

    • Unless you live on Gilligan's Island or some African swallows carried the coconuts to you, you're still SOL...:-D...
