The government of the People's Republic of China takes the position that Taiwan is part of their country.

But how do ordinary Chinese folks feel about it? Do they care whether or not Taiwan is an independent country? Or are they afraid to contradict the central government?

    taiwan is where the kuomintang fled to during world war 2, taking (extorting) millions of dollars with them, resulting in taiwan's rapid economic growth after ww2.
