Help answer this question below.

What frequency should I set my S/PDIF digital sound card output to? I have 7.1 channel receiver, use digital coaxial to output sound signal from computer to receiver. Computer set to output 7.1 channel, currently 96KHz. Should I set to 44.1, 48, 96, 192?

Test the different frequencies to see if you can hear a significant difference. If not, just set it to the highest frequency that your sources will have, or a step higher to have a bit of leeway. Most standard quality recordings are 44.1 or 48 kHz, so you could go for 48 or 96.

For some reason I have to set my Realtek card output to 192 kHz, or it sounds like CRAP. Not just some subtile difference that you can barely hear, but a completely different sound. You will easily hear the difference if your card is the same.
