It takes surprisingly little time and effort to be kind and conscientious to others -- especially strangers -- and yet so many of us can't find the time and energy. It's sad.

I hold doors for people everyday, and often I get a reaction as though I've done something remarkable or chivalrous. Then, there are those who accept the place in line or the opened door without so much as a glance or other acknowledgment.

It's the existence of the latter group that explains the reaction of the former group.

I'm going to keep trying to do good each day anyway. It makes me feel good, and keeps me humble, whether its appreciated (or noticed) or not.

    • I certainly appreciate that attitude, Todd...I do the same thing. I think what you put out into the world is what comes back to you..not necessarily in like kind, but it comes back to you..so no kindness is ever unrewarded! Thanks for your very comprehensive and lovely answer. :)
