I'm not claustrophobic, but I agree with you about the crowds thing. I pretty much only worry about forgetting everything right before Physics tests...I used to get such awful test anxiety...

That is interesting to know that you get anxious about Physics...I wonder if that is a relatively recent development or you have always had that
by randomguy on September 24th, 2011
I don't know...I've been nervous about other tests in other subjects since then and before that, but never as bad as in Physics. I don't know if it was because that's been my toughest two classes up until now...that was probably part of it. It also probably did not help that I was trying so hard to do well not only for my sake, but also for him...

The last point was why I was asking :)
by randomguy on September 24th, 2011
I think he must have had something to do with it, but I blame myself as well. I wanted so badly to impress him, for one thing, which was crazy, since in the end I think he was more impressed by my efforts then the results (although those were good too...). I always felt like I had to prove myself in the class...everyone else was majoring in engineering (computer, mechanical or electrical), and here I am, the only woman and the only education major in the class. He never made me feel inferior...but sometimes the other students did, although I don't think it was done maliciously.
He also seemed to have a jaded view of students in general, which I understood better as time went by, since nobody else in the class seemed to want to make an effort. They wouldn't do their homework, or come to class regularly... I wanted to show him that his efforts were not for naught, that one student at least was willing to try their best...
All of the above put a lot of pressure on me come test time...

Ah, the things we do for love and to get attention from that one person! It is normal and nothing to blame anyone or anything for! :)
But you succeeded in getting his attention...not the final result you expected, but at least an acknowledgment.
As for engineering students...yea, we can be jerks at times when we are in school and that is extremely unfortunate because we have a very myopic view of the world at that time. Some people grow out of it eventually and some don't. I wish it weren't so.

Yeah...I guess...even the smartest guy in the class could be somewhat cocky, but I don't think he was consciously trying to be mean about it...I just think he had a lot of self-confidence in his abilities. Most of the time it didn't bother me, but once in a while it would grate on my nerves. (At least I got a higher grade on the final than him...sorry, competitive side rearing it's angry head...better ready the bow. :D)

Guess you showed him :)
by randomguy on September 24th, 2011
Well...he (the kid) doesn't know. I was the last one to finish the final and everyone else had left. I asked the professor if there was anyway to find out how I had done on the final, since he had told us he was not allowed to e-mail grades (although he kind of bent that rule for me later...). He said he would grade it for me then, which I really appreciated, since it was late and I was sure he wanted to get home.
I waited, a nervous wreck, and then when he finished he not only told me my grade, but also that I had gotten the highest grade. (He had been grading the others as they turned them in...) I couldn't believe it! But I never told any of the other guys, because I figured he maybe shouldn't have told me that. I wasn't sure, maybe it was okay, but I didn't want to risk getting him in trouble...

No, that is good that you didn't say anything if he didn't email the grades himself.
But you can gloat to me if you want, you earned the right and I won't tell anyone :)
by randomguy on September 24th, 2011
Okay...*gloating, gloating, gloating...*
He even e-mailed my overall grade later...and that was a definite no-no. The school was taking forever to post grades, and I e-mailed him, asking him if there was anyway to get around it. He sent me a frequency...440 Hz, and I googled it to find out my grade. I felt special that he would bend the rules for me...of course that just made me believe even more that he liked me in that way...

I had to look up the 440...grats on the A :)

Thanks...I could have just told you... :)
