Is it hypocritical that pet owners can let their cat kill a mouse and people just say "that's cats being cats," but Michael Vick gets arrested for letting his dog fight another dog, and people don't just say "that's dogs being dogs?"

For hundreds of years cats saved millions of lives (possibly your ancestors) by killing rats and mice that would have eaten peoples food supplies and spread disease (like the bubonic plague). Today we have pesticides and antibiotics, but we still owe cats a great debt for saving our ancestors from famine and disease by killing rats and mice.

Vicks was not only breaking several laws but was also involved in the torture of dogs and injection of performance enhancing drugs in order to make them more vicious using pry bars, rape stands, syringes, etc which were found on his property. So I'd say Vick was doing a lot more than letting his dog fight another dog.
