Question

Help answer this question below.

The Bible says that "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" and that if you do not personally ask Christ's forgiveness you will go to hell. Since babies can't ask forgiveness and "all have sinned" they are all in hell, right?

Is either purgatory or a fiery hell taught anywhere in the Bible? Today, many scholars in Christendom would answer no. The New Catholic Encyclopedia states: “In the final analysis, the Catholic doctrine on purgatory is based on tradition, not Sacred Scripture.” Regarding hell, A Dictionary of Christian Theology comments: “In the N[ew] T[estament] we do not find hell fire to be a part of the primitive preaching.”

Although there are many things in the Bible we are taught as wrong such as murder, adultery, homosexuals, abortion, etc. Do you think that if a person is gay, has an abortion, etc. and doesn't ask for God's forgiveness that they will go to hell?

In Romans, Paul writes, "By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, so that ALL HAVE SINNED". So, a newborn baby has sin that must be forgiven. If that baby dies without asking God for forgiveness it goes to hell. Isn't that nice of God?
