The bible contradicts itself to many times to hold all of it true at the same time.

    • Apparent contradictions will always increase the less we understand the subject, and in the company of the ill-informed contradiction will be abundant.

    • Ill-informed? Jesus, himself, in the New Testament, teaches against things that are taught in the Old Testament. As I said, to hold both true at the same time would be contradictory.

    • Exactly my point, with this particular regard what is a contradiction to one without an understanding of the subject is a planned advancement for very important reasons to one with.

Would it be right to view the fact you no longer live by means of breast milk a contradiction or a natural progression?

    • It would be a contradiction if someone was telling me to view the entirety of my life as the "correct way" all at the exact same time. But if you were to say that learned experience or truth that is found later in the story is the correct way to go, then I would say it is natural progression.

    • I agree, so in regard to the particular point made above, what has changed has replaced what was previous, and was due to mankind's advancement, just as a baby grows and no longer can be sustained on milk, a change is necessary, both would be rightly seen as a progression.

In over 25years I've yet to find one contradiction in scripture that will stand up to being tested with understanding and accurate scriptural knowledge, and it's not for the want of trying :)

    • I understand your argument, but my original statement was arguing agaisnt the idea of seeing the entirety of the bible as "correct" or "true" at the same time. This isn't possible because many things taught in the Old Testament are corrected in the New Testament.

    • I see what you mean, you are quite right. I expected your original answer when the word “contradiction” was mentioned to be implying what is fairly normal to find here, but your explanation and reasoning does make sense, and again I agree with what you are saying, sorry for the confusion, my apologies :).

    • No apology necessary. I knew exactly where you were coming from and do not blame you at all for starting off that way.
