If you've read The Odyssey, what age were you when you read it? I had to read it in fifth grade and could not grasp it.

I did mean do you read every day. I read a little before I go to bed every night. Always a good book.

By the way, Margueite, did you ever read that Erik Erikson book on Gandhi that I recommended to you? Would like to hear whether you liked it. While praising on the surface, it well damned him just underneath!

No, they don't have it here at this library. I'd have to order it online. I do love books and movies about Gandhi, though. I found a good book last week called "Significant Others: Creativity & Intimate Partnerships" edited by Whitney Chadwick and Isabelle de Courtivron. It's about artists, writers, and other creative people who were married to each other(or lived as couples). It's really interesting.

Did you realize that almost no great philosophers married? And top mathematicians are around 50% marriers, still significantly differing from the norm.
As for the Gandhi book you might try inter-library loan:I've read a # of books that way.

Gandhi was married. I think some of the Greek philosophers like Socrates must have been gay. I live in a remote part of Texas, up in the mountains. We barely have a small library. The first thing I asked when I moved here, coming from the city was, "Is there an interlibrary loan?" Nope. I should order that book, and I will when I have a list of the books I need to order. And my list is growing...

Martin Heidegger & Ayn Rand are the only ones I know to have been married. I recall that the Greeks had no negative feelings about homosexuality so, on the one hand we would be more likely to know, but on the other we have lost so much information on that age; Eg, of 42 or 43 paradoxes of Zeno, we only have 5 or 6.
It's so sad you don't have inter-library loan. After my move of 3 1/2 yrs ago, I've been using the library to great extent, avoiding book purchases as much as possible. I have around 10,000 books & things are out of hand! Almost all are in boxes. But even so, I regret the many math books I left behind-guess I am a hopeless book nut.
Ever since I recommended the Gandhi book to you I've been wanting to reread it, but I have no clue as to where my copy is. It's pathetic when it's so much easier to buy a new copy than to find your own!
By the way I've been reading-& rereading-the John Cuddy series written by Jeremiah Healy. If you enjoy mysteries, I feel sure you would like him.
