Sometimes upgrading to XP from Vista on a new computer can be a slight challenge. However, it sounds like you just need to install the DVD Player Software that came with the computer. It's probably something like WinDVD or PowerDVD. You make have to browse an application CD that came with the computer. If they didn't provide a disc, you're going to have to buy it. You can get either online and I recommend PowerDVD. Luckily, they're not that expensive.

ps. you do realize that when ur finally ready to get vista, you may have to pay for it again, since with new laptops it often comes preinstalled. Shouldn't be a problem if you backed an image of it in your harddisk.

    • He shouldn't have to pay for it again as long as he saves the download or burns it to a CD.
