Could you give me one example of an individual being "saved" in this manner after the church was established? Just one person?
by Weylon on June 29th, 2011
Weylon, actually God does not dwell in buildings. Read Acts 7:48. He dwells in the hearts of those that are saved.
In 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, it is made clear that a person who is saved, the mind, body and soul is the Temple of the Holy Spirit, as Christ said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." Matthew 22:37

I was not referring to the church as a building. Can you or can you not provide me with a personal account of someone being saved in this manner from the new testament after the death burial and resurrection of Jesus? I do not want a long debate just a yes or no.

Can you provide me a biblical answer who is the head of the Church?
by Liz on June 30th, 2011
Do you typically answer questions with questions? Jesus Christ is the head, the church is the body.
by Weylon on June 30th, 2011
Do you over read what the Bible says or are you just based on opinions?
For a biblical answer, I couldn't agree more, Christ is the head of the Church and all members partake from the one bread. 1 Corinthians 10:17
As each person that is saved, whether it be Jews or Gentiles have an expectation that "each one" would use their abilities and resources to build up the body, which is Christ.

I do read the bible. I do not necessarily give specific references. I am not claiming to be right, I was just asking a question which is still unanswered. Every example I have seen of someone becoming part of the church, they were baptized. I know we can take certain parts of the bible and make it seem like all we need to do is believe, but many believe and never do anything more. I am far from perfect and have a lot to learn. That is why I ask a lot of questions. I still learn. To accept Jesus into one's heart would one need to love Jesus?
by Weylon on June 30th, 2011
It is better to be specific by providing reference. The Bible makes it clear in 2 Timothy 3:16 that "all" scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, reproof, correction and for training in righteousness. To your question, there isn't no such thing as "one person" being saved after the church was established. If this was the case, John 14:6 would not have been in the Bible. Jesus said, "He is the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the Father, but by Him."
And as we know, He is the Church to "all" who call upon His name. When it comes to believing itself without faith, that doesn't save anyone. The majority of people in the world that are not Christians believe in Christ, but many see Him as a teacher or prophet nothing more.
But in the Christian Faith, go back and re read the 3rd comment, that is what defines a person that is truly saved, so if you loved any of your family relatives, I'm sure they will be in your heart as well.

There are examples of one person being saved and groups of people being saved. Since you insist on Chapter and verse I will look that up for you. Your relationship between you and God is just that I just think it is a bit misleading to tell people that one must simply believe and accept Jesus into their heart when there is no example of this happening to anyone in the bible, at least not in mine. I am thankful we both have faith that Jesus is the Son of God.
by Weylon on June 30th, 2011
Where did I say that is about "simply" believing in Christ? Did I not make it clear that (believing itself without faith) doesn't save anyone?
According to 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 and Matthew 22:37 which I posted in the 3rd comment, the heart is part of the Temple of the Holy Spirit. A person must accept Christ into their hearts to be saved, that's why I also said if you loved any your relatives, they will be in your heart. I believe that buddha and mohamed existed, but my faith is not in them. If a person "simply" believes in Christ, he/she is none of His. It is impossible to please God without faith. Hebrews 11:6
Quote, "there is no example of this happening to anyone in the bible, at least not in mine."
Oh, there were examples.
John 11:25-27 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?" 27 She said to Him, "Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world."
Luke 7:50 And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
As I've been saying, "He dwells in the hearts of those that are saved."
