I've used Linux full time for the last several years, and have been dabbling with it since Red Hat 5.0 (1998?).

When I went back to school to do my Master's degree I decided to do it "paperless" and using only Free and Open Source Software. I'm pleased to say it was a great success.

My favourite distro is Debian; but I use Kubuntu (Debian-based) on my laptop. It's a pretty good choice for Windows users who are interested in taking the plunge, but I also recommend PCLinuxOS and OpenSUSE for those folks.
