Help answer this question below.

John Mark Karr has a girlfriend?! What's wrong with her? Why do some women go for men in jail! (JMK is not in jail though)

    There isn't a single answer, but I can suggest possibilities:
    (1.) A need to assist and redeem another person ("I can save him."),
    (2.) An attraction to danger/risk taking behaviours, or
    (3.) Vicarious enjoyment of violence/crime through another person.

    Sometimes it's a desire to help, and sometimes it's one mentally ill individual seeking another. In the Karr case, the woman was a devout Christian, so she is likely in category #1.

    As far as the appeal of men in prison, think of the safety factor: "He loves me, he needs me, he can't hurt me, he can't leave me."
