I don't know if it would be considered self-defense, but I warned an ex BF not to hit me again and he did. It worked really well, as I was able to be out the door and long gone before he recovered. That was the only time I have ever kicked a guy there.

I agree. You did the right thing. Kick him and get away. I know from experience how painful it is. It usually stops the guy in his tracks and gives the girl a few minutes to get away.
