I grew up in Massachusetts and didn't like it there very much. So I moved away when I got out of school and never moved back. Anybody have the same experience with the place they grew up?

    inconsequential

I used to have a mental block over the town I was born in (Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada), but I think it mostly stemmed from warnings I received from others: Get out and make something of your life or you'll end up working for the mine. Fear really drove me to pursue education, so I'd never have to face that possibility. Today, I think I could live there again because it would be by choice. And oddly enough, even though I lusted for big city living as a twentysomething, I prefer the small town life I grew up on now that I'm in my thirties.
