I think people just want whatever they happen to want. In some cases the wants are easily attainable and other times not. Sometimes we only remember or notice the wants we can't achieve.

When you reframe it this way, the question becomes 'Why can't I just have anything I want?'. Then the answer becomes clearer. Some things you want will be easier to attain than others, and it partly depends on how 'bad' you want it. Some examples:

EASY - If I want a big mac, I can just go to McDonalds.

MODERATE - I want to go on vacation in Vegas - I will have to make some plans and make/save some money to pay for the trip.

HARD - If I want to be a rich movie producer I might have to study for years, have a lot of money to invest, and it may help to know the right people. Might need a little luck too.

ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE - I may want to be invisible - this is extremely unlikely and I will do better to give up this want than disappoint myself trying. However, nothing is impossible, depends on how important it is.

    • i mean, the desire which goes unsatisfied...what do i make of that? to want and not have or even have the abilities to have...must i be without it? it kills my hope of joy at the possibility of ever having it...then y is the desire there? for my sufferance?
