reasonably good answer, but it might not be politically correct to call a blind person an "it" lol

He is referring to the visually impaired person to it because he does not know if it's a female or male.

Political correctness does not belong in facts, even if it was unPC, which it is not.

I think he's referring to babies being born and how they dream...

People blind from birth do not have visual elements to their dreams.

Vision in dreams is not dependent upon physical sight. Does a person who wears eye glasses have to wear their eye glasses (or contact lenses) to bed in order to see their dreams more clearly? Dreams are seen with "psychic sight". It has been debated that some people dream in black and white while their waking vision is in color. I think that generally people who are blind from birth do not "see" in their dreams how an average person does, but there are probably exceptions to this depending on the degree to which they have developed their psychic vision.

how can a person who is born blind give an object a distinctive color if they dont even know what colors look like? colors cant be imagined. try it yourself, close your eyes and think of a completely new color that has never been seen before. you cant do it because colors always refer to something we've seen before, and since the blind cant see they have nothing to refer to

I agree with Christopher, in order for one's mind to recreate something, it must be percieved by one of the five senses. Yes, you can imagine things that are completely new but must be based on the information recieved by one's senses (One must know of the existance of whales and the existance of winged things to create a flying whale in their imagination). If someone has never seen the color green then that person could not possibly dream of, or recreate, the color.

When one does not know the sex of whom one is speaking, one can use the term "he," or "she" or even "he/she." In the proper context, one can use the term "one" as well. "It," however, is grammatically incorrect as well as impolite. We generally reserve the pronoun for lower life forms and inanimate objects.
