And if they didn't, customers would complain too.

My husband works for an electric utility company where the linemen/troublemen are in a union. They're assigned for shifts 24/7 because customers need their service 24/7 .. holidays no exception.

Some of these "utilities" (which cable companies are) are state and federally regulated too ... they have to provide service when service is needed or they will be fined.

When someone works for a company like that .. it's a part of the job.

    • Mrs.Cleaver: television is not a service that is a matter of life or death. Or is it?

    • Comcast provides telephone/internet service too. While not "life or death" .. they are considered a utility company providing a service people expect and pay to receive 24/7 .. so they have to service it 24/7.
