I disagree with every single one of these answers, who appear to be from females with no notion of the things which occur in a male's mind.

It's possible (nay, probable) that he simply wants to see how far she's gone. That's really what the question is all about. While females excel at being two-faced, males ask question for the purpose of knowing the answer. I don't ask questions as a means of telling anyone anything.

Often the guy simply wants to know how far she's been. A big part of male insecurity, especially in this society, is that there is pressure to be a female's 'first'. He's simply checking to see how many others there were before him. If you were to answer with a number in double digits, he might get turned off and won't pursue a relationship. If he really likes you he still shouldn't care, but societal pressures affect even the best of people.

The question "How far have you been with someone?" is expected to have an answer. It is a simple means of obtaining information. How else is he going to find out about her history? Is he going to get hired help? Sneak around behind her back? No. An honest man will be upfront with any issues that may compromise a relationship, and both parties deserve to know their partners' respective histories.
