    In general, you can fuse glass in a ceramic kiln but you have to set the correct temperature settings to avoid cracking. A glass kiln heats only one layer from the top, creating a more even temperature distribution for the glass underneath, making that an ideal kiln for glass. A ceramic kiln, meant for pottery, heats several layers from the sides. However, if you have an automatic controller on your ceramic kiln, you can program it to slow down the heating and cooling rate to make it suitable for fusing glass.
