Will a watermelon get sweeter if it is left out in the sun after it has been picked?

    I've never known a watermelon to get any better sitting around in the fridge or out on the counter. You choose the best watermelon you can and then cross your fingers. If it isn't so great, you can eat anyway, turn it into watermelon ice in your freezer or chuck it out.
