You're reading A philosophical question.... If guns are legal and any psychopath with a grudge can buy one, do we need to make guns easier to purchase, so that people who aren't psychopaths can defend themselves?

Part of the origin of the second amendment is the idea that an armed populace can prevent a tyrannical government from coming into power and or to prevent a military coup.

I dont remember anywhere in the Constitution where it mentioned homestead or home turf, could you point me in the right direction for these writings. But I have read this.
"The Constitution of most of our states and of the United States assert that all power is inherant in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed."

or maybe you would like this one better.
"A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."
George Washington
