Is it possible to be 'better than yourself'?

    From a theological point of view, I think it could be said that our consiousness is suspended between our own Self, which is more illusion than reality, and God's Self. To be submerged in our own Self, is to be submerged in evil or delusion, but to be raised above it toward the Self of God is to ascend toward Good and Wisdom. So I think the answer is Yes, it's essential to be better than yourself.
