Help answer this question below.

If your parents said this...would you tell them?

I tried to tell my parents that I cut myself, but first I asked them what they thought about people that cut themselves. My mom said they are very sick people that need help and belong in a mental hospital. My dad said only nuts and crazy people cut themselves. What should I do now?( 2 of my best friends know)

    If you need help, ask for it. Don't beat around the bush.

    You can't blame your parents for responding that way. Harming oneself is not natural or normal, and therefore it's crazy.

    Although "crazy" seems too insensitive or too blunt, just remember that they don't know you need help and if they had known, I'm sure they would have responded differently.
