Which is why it's difficult to get auto insurance in New Jersey? I think it's worst in the area up near New York, but at least in NY, you can get insurance. Most insurance companies won't extend new policies in New Jersey at all because they can't make money on them.
Really, it's probably because my sister-in-law lives there. She probably averages two or three accidents a year. Of course none of them are EVER "her fault" but you know... I buy that if it's two or three in a lifetime, not two or three in a year. Of course, she's also the one who gets cornered by crazy guys with guns, so she may have a point about being unlucky with it, but I just can't believe that many accidents aren't at least partly her fault.

Louisiana is another one that is a nightmare when it comes to auto insurance. Our rates are sometimes 3 times higher than more populated states. As my Mom said, and she is a former DMV employee, most people tend to take their driving test with bumper cars, and get their drivers license out of a Cracker Jack box.
