There are many types or branches of yoga such as Raja yoga( yoga of meditation), Hatha yoga( yoga of body and mind purification ), Jnana yoga( yoga of enquiry ), Karma yoga( yoga of action ), Bhakti yoga( yoga of devotion ), Mantra yoga( yoga of repetition of sound or words ), Kundalini yoga( yoga of energy ) and Laya yoga( yoga of rythm ) to name a few. The word 'yoga' is derived from Sanskrit word 'yuj' which means to join or unite. It is the union of individual and supreme self. This can be achived by different ways and hence many branches of yoga.
