You say you published a Notice to Creditors in a newspaper, but which one?

If you have hidden a notice in some small local newspaper then you could well be deemed to have not taken reasonable steps to notify creditors. I would also have some problem with the part about being forever barred. While it might put off some potential creditors it has no real legal standing. A creditor who is on a round-the-world cruise just now would still have a good case for recovering monies. The best you can do is advertise the Notice in at least regional, if not national press and accept that there could possibly be a challenge in the future. I'm sure your statute of limitations would have something to cover a timescale, though.
