Why should I think that my Mormon faith is in things magical any more than the traditional Christian faith is?

Recently someone broke off a discussion I was having with him on AnswerBag
because he thought my Mormon faith was too heavy into magical thinking. Why should I think that my faith is in things magical any more than his faith in traditional Christianity is?

You really shouldn't. They are both based in faith. The facts that are paraded for both Mormonism and for a more classical Christianity really don't hold up to snuff. So all you're left with is propositions of faith in miracles, which is to say, magic.

Since miracles can't really be evaluated objectively, and because you each fervently hold to your faith with wild-eyed abandon, you are thus on equal footing concerning your claims. So basically, if your worldview is based on magic, it's based on magic. There isn't much to be said about whose Kool-Aid has more faerie dust in it.
