There is no reason why a woman cannot get pregnant after an appendectomy. The procedure is minimally invasive. A good surgeon can perform one with a 6 centimeter incision. Newer methods of the surgical procedure, called laporoscopic appendectomies, are very minimally invasive with just 3 small incisions. The bigger of the three incisions being close to the navel.
The organs of reproduction - The ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus are not located within the area of the appendix but rather lower in the pelvic cavity.
If the surgeries were performed with large incisions and were very invasive, scar tissue called adhesions can develope and possibly compromise the organs of reproduction. However, most appendectomies are minimally invasive.
