Why don't the front doors in America have letter boxes (letter slots I think you call them), why are they away from the house so you have to go outside? (especially in the winter)

Because we make it easy for the post person to just get a lot of houses at once. instead of having them walk in the winter to each door.

I should include this is talking about general parts of the usa. Some places they do walk its quicker. But if they had to just deliver post to all the houses on my street it would take the whole day to get each house. I mean my house is about 400m away from the road. It takes a min to walk here. And its just us down our long driveway.

    • That's very kind, but they get paid for it. You have to run outside in the freezing cold every morning.

    • Not really we get our mail at around 4pm and when I come home I pick it up and drive to the house. Thanks for the comment.

    • Anon, it slows the mailman down to have to do that. Mail must be delivered quickly for the postal system to be efficient.
