There is a button that is usually labeled "Num Lock" in the upper right area of the keyboard. Pressing that will toggle the number locks on and off and should be indicated by a small light on the keyboard. Go ahead and press it repeatedly to see if you can spot the light going on and off. When the light it off, number lock is off.

Thanks, I did try that, and it didnt work, I have no lights for number lock just a lock on the f2 and f6 keys, no lables for number locks - I am using another PC to talk to you, I just did system restore again going back farther to see if this will help. I do have an FN key but have pressed it and nothing changes.

It sounds like you're using a laptop. On a laptop you'll have to use that FN (function) key and hold that down while you find and press the Num Lock key. It will probably say Num Lock in blue letters above the normal function of one of the other keys. There should still be a light or some kind of indication so you can tell when it's on or off. If that doesn't do it for you and this is in fact a laptop, can you provide the manufacturer and model of it?
