Which of these fighter jets has the highest top speed: F14 Tomcat, F15 Eagle, F16 Falcon, or F18 Hornet?

    According to the Encyclopedia of World Air Power, here are the "published" top speeds of each fighter:
    F18: Mach 1.80
    F16: Mach 1.95
    F14: Mach 2.34
    And the fastest jet is...
    F15: Mach 2.5, approximately 1,400 mph.

    • F-15 is the fastest fighter of the group - not the fastest jet... that would be the SR71 Blackbird... twice as fast as the F-15 published
